How to Teach Child to Read With Bob Books

Yes, this is getting it's ain post on my blog.

Hither's why…

It was through a scrap of trial and error that I discovered the differences between Bob Volume Collections and Bob Book Sets.  I highly, highly recommend using Bob Books for petty readers, so I wanted to write a very clear explanation for all of you, so you don't make the same mistakes I did when ordering these online.

The Departure Betwixt Sets and Collections:

Bob Book SETS are mini books and include i ready of Bob Books which teach a particular reading concept.

Bob Book COLLECTIONS are a collection of TWO of the mini sets in one large box, and are much bigger in size. (run across picture show below.)

Of import to know! The titles in the SETS are the aforementioned titles as are in the COLLECTIONS.

In the sets you get but the books in their mini course. In the collections you get TWO sets of books in large format, sheets of stickers to become with the books, and some other little stuff like a bookmark, door hanger, etc…

Whenever the kids finish reading me a book from their ready, I permit them place a sticker on the front cover of the book so nosotros know it's done.

Available Sets and Collections

Here's the function that can be confusing. I've listed them below in order of level.  Notice in my listing that Collection six comes before Collection 2. This is correct, exercise not let the numbers misfile you.

As far every bit I tin tell, Collection half-dozen comes in between #1 and #2 and at that place is no Collection 4 or Collection 5. Weird, right?   I ain all the collections, and the list below is what lodge your kid would read them in.

This is the breakup, and I've linked them all for clarity.

Hither is a full listing of the Bob Book Original Sets: Mini Books (in progressive reading gild.)

Pre-Reader Collection or Sets

We did purchase the Pre-Reader Collection, and it was the commencement time I was disappointed in Bob Books. I'll just share a couple pictures of the inside and then you tin see for yourself. The reason I am not a fan of these is because information technology is teaching the alphabet using words that begin with each letter—not unlike other books I already own. They are not books that the child can "read" themselves like the other Bob Book Sets.  If your child doesn't know their alphabet, maybe y'all would enjoy them, simply I adopt the resources outlined in {This Mail service} for teaching the alphabet.

This is inside of one the books from the "Pre-Reader Skills" Ready. As you can run into, it's definitely non a get-go pace to reading, but more than of a preschool concepts volume.

Why I Utilize the Collections Instead of the Sets

The bigger the improve when you're instruction kids to read. The larger size is more engaging, and the impress is bigger so they are easier for trivial readers.

I as well like the Collections considering you are getting more value for your investment. Ane drove is betwixt $24-29, but y'all are getting 2 sets for that price. The private sets are betwixt $eleven-$17 each.  And so basically, you lot are paying about the same amount per title either way, but the collections give you lot the nice large format, plus a nicer box to store them in plus stickers! 🙂

Okay, hopefully I didn't lose you in there…

If you have questions, comment and I'll try to assist out!

If you have a fiddling one (age ii-5) just beginning to read, or interested in the alphabet, check out these two posts:
